Website Designer

Your Role:

Ellislaine is seeking a Website Designer to support the development and enhancement of client websites, primarily on the Squarespace platform. This role is ideal for a creative and detail-oriented designer who can translate brand strategy into clean, functional, and visually compelling web experiences.

You will collaborate with our internal team to build, update, and optimize client websites while also contributing to visual assets across digital and print media. The ideal candidate works independently, communicates clearly, and consistently delivers polished design work within established timelines.

What you’ll do:

  • Website Design & Development: Create, launch, and manage Squarespace websites ensuring responsiveness, aesthetics, and site performance. Customize templates, implement CSS/HTML tweaks, and integrate visuals, forms, and functionalities.

  • Graphic Design: Design and produce visuals for brand identities, websites, social media graphics, print collateral, and digital assets. Maintain brand consistency across all platforms.

  • Website Maintenance & Optimization: Update website content, adjust layouts, perform SEO basics, and ensure all links and content are accurate and current.

  • User Experience & Collaboration: Work with clients and internal teams to understand goals and deliver intuitive, user-friendly site structures and designs. Participate in project planning, manage timelines, and coordinate with project managers and colleagues.

  • Content & Asset Management: Organize and optimize image assets, brand files, and graphic templates. Create mockups and visual proposals for client review.

  • Quality Assurance: Test website functionality across browsers and devices. Troubleshoot issues or bugs and ensure smooth user experience.

  • Squarespace proficiency (designing, editing, customizing)

  • Canva proficiency

  • Mac OS proficiency

  • Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, etc.)

  • Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Strong written and verbal communication

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

  • Adaptability in a fast-paced environment

  • Positive attitude

  • Open to feedback

  • Strong graphic design abilities

Bonus Skills:

  • Basic HTML/CSS for minor template adjustments

  • Familiarity with SEO fundamentals

  • Experience with photo editing (headshots, images, etc.)

  • Knowledge of web performance tools and principles
